Excessive time spent in front of the screen could be associated with poorer diet in children, poorer eye health due to blue light from screens. Involvement in online activities, to the detriment of offline ones, could affect mental health, including anxiety, and behavioural problems such as aggression, irritability when trying to take away from technology.
There are also links between increased screen time and negative outcomes for adults, such as negative effects on diet (junk food), eye health (blue light from screens), mental health, such as anxiety, depression and loneliness, and general health, such as fatigue, decreased physical activity and weight gain.
